WSense S.r.l., Italian company specialized in Internet of Underwater Things, has developed a disruptive technology enabling to create wireless networks of underwater sensors, robots and even divers, providing pioneering patented solutions for the Blue Economy.
The Company needed to maintain high levels of innovation and efficiency and to continue growing in order to reach the critical mass needed to face the competition. They also had a problem in implementing large contracts acquired due to cashflow problems typical of a fast scaling up reality.
The EEN staff of Unioncamere Lazio supported them in indentifying the EU financial lines that could support research, development and innovation projects.
The intangible assets of the company (human capital, registered patents, social and relational capital) were assessed extremely positively, contributing substantially to the final decision of the bank Mediocredito Italiano.
In particular, the loan has been guaranteed under “InnovFin – EU Finance for Innovators“, the joint initiative launched by the European Investment Bank Group (EIB and EIF) in cooperation with the European Commission under Horizon 2020.
On 2017 the project Archeosub of Wsense was financed by the European Maritime & Fisheries Fund in the framework of the Call for Proposals – Blue Labs – innovative solutions for maritime challenges-. The EASME project and the “InnovFin – EU Finance for Innovators” have allowed the company to grow, hiring ten new R&D personnel in the last year.
The result achieved is the clear example of the sum of a series of interconnection actions of EU added value, meant together to pursue the objective: to help the Company to get financial assistance to develop its innovative projects.
